How To Use !FDImage
=====================
The text in this file contains useful information about how to use FDImage.
What Is FDImage
===============
FDImage is a small application for use with STem, an Atari ST emulator. It's
purpose is to create images of Atari and DOS format disks.
Usage
=====
FDImage is a multitasking RISC OS program, and can be run from just about any
filing system (even directly from the archive, with a suitable de-archiver). On
start-up a window will open, from which you can control how disk images are
created.
The source drive, i.e. the drive containing the disk to be copied, can be set
using the up and down arrows. Only ADFS floppy drives are allowed, and the
program does not check that the specified drive actually exists. Drive 0 is the default, and in most cases this will not need to be changed.
It is only valid to use an Atari or DOS format disk as the source, and this will
be checked when you click on the Ok button. Attempting to use another format
disk will generate a suitable error message.
The destination, i.e. the path and filename for the resultant disk image, should
be entered into the text box. Alternatively, you can drag the DOSDisc icon to a
filer window, to have the path set automatically.
Once all the details are set, click on the Ok button to create the disk image.
This will take a minute or so, depending on the size of the disk, and you will
not be able to do anything else until it has finished.
The final disk image will be given the type DOSDisc (&fc8), and on RISC OS 3.00
or greater you will be able to access the contents of the disk image just like
a normal directory, i.e. using a filer window.
Just about everything in this program is able to provide interactive help. To
make use of this feature you will need to have a program such as !Help or
!BubbleHlp loaded as well.
